The youth group meets between the masses during the school year. During the hour we meet we discuss how our week has been and the students high's and low's for the week. This is their time to share if they have any thing they need to get off their chest. This is a safe environment for them to share in, which I remind the kids regularly. What is said in the room stays in the room. They are welcome to talk about if they had any decisions they had to make or if they need help counseling a friend who is having a tough time we talk about it.
We don't have a particular curriculum for the class time, much of the time we talk about moral issues about just being a teenager. We have had speakers in the past to go over peer pressures and have gone over the parts of the mass and why church time shouldn't be boring. Some of the speakers we have had in the past are Firefighters, Police Officers, a Sheriff that works with underage crimes, a parole officer, and a pharmacist.
We go on outings about every couple of months, we do service projects, we fund raise for our budget and we go to Steubenville NW each summer for a few days (see the tab named Steubenville for more information). We also participate in a youth mass once a month during the school year by signing, ushering or lecturing. We also host the Easter Egg Hunt, a Lenten Party an All Saints Party and an Advent Party each year.
The kids go to many different schools and are very different people, but get along so well together, which makes all the difference.
